Living With Less - Book Review

Living With Less: An Unexpected Key to Happiness
Author: Joshua Becker

A little over a year ago Jon and I decided to adopt two more kids. We were confronted with the fact that space was going to be an issue. This led us to explore the idea of becoming minimalists. I sat down with my iPad and read many blogs about living a simple life. One that I stumbled upon was Becoming Minimalist by Joshua Becker. What was so refreshing about his blog and caused him to stand out in my search was that he was a Christian.

Today he releases his new book, Living With Less. His audience is the teen or young adult, but it can speak to any age. He begins by laying out his foundation of minimalism within the context of the bible. Joshua Becker then tells his story of how he became a minimalist and how it has impacted his life. He defines minimalism and encourages the reader to live a simpler life in order to be free of the material and in turn find a greater joy in pursuing treasures that will last an eternity.

"Your life is far too valuable to waste chasing material possessions. Find more joy today and the rest of your life by choosing to pursue 'greater,' rather than 'more.'"

"Because that's what Jesus has been offering all along..."

Living With Less is a quick read that I managed to finish during my children's nap time. His writing is engaging and inspired me to continue on our path to live a simple life. Joshua Becker reminded me that there are more worthy things to pursue than stuff. You will not walk away from reading his book without considering what you can put in your give away bag.
